single sound: Life as One, by Skinshape

We come in numbers, we come with need
I stumbled upon this song thanks to YouTube's algorithm, which brought me here.
Skinshape is the solo project of British artist William Dorey, formerly of Palace.
Life as One is track #6 on the album Filoxiny, self-released in 2018.
The track begins with a drone sequence and a drum line; then Dorey talks about an ocean of cement, and stars that can be observed by looking where we are now, and far up in the sky.
We lie in an ocean of lights, we reach toward an ocean of lights.
After the interlude that becomes almost lyrical, with psychedelic sounds and an even more drone-like sequence than the initial part, Dorey speaks of humanity as a single entity, uses a "we" but addresses himself; and gradually becomes aware of looking within, to cast a glance at his now outdated image (could the lights be involved, softening our shadows?).
But our strength is in being One.
Just take a look, don't look too hard
