single sound: Perfect Dark, by Flyte and Madison Cunningham
a delicate song for a blackout happening during nighttime
Eyes almost closing
Flyte is a project from London created in 2013 by Will Taylor and Nicolas Hill, that featured for a while Jon Supran and Sam Barrage.
The style of the band could defined as “chamber-folk”, and the songs are gentle brushes of warm voices and delicate sounds.
Perfect Dark - New York version was published in 2024 under Nettwerk Music Group, and makes no exception. Another version is track #5 of the self-titled album from 2023.
There’s someone under her spell (but who is she?), there’s a red room and a low moon entering that very room.
It is quite possible that we will fall under that spell, because “eyes” are “almost closing”, and there’s not much time.
The chorus displays the choice to resist to “her perfect dark”, where everywhere else there’s a blackout, and only the moon casts its light into that room.
And maybe her trap is simply love, a kind of love that tangles sheets, and makes you forget everything else; then, sirens will woke us up from our dreams.
The song is a gentle and warm lullaby, with a piano and a delicate drum line which blends everything together, along with the guitar picking.
A wonderful song to play on serene nights.
Time's almost up
