I don’t really know which part of a song I prefer, choosing between the lyrics and the rhythm.
In the case of Space Song, by Beach House, I feel like I don’t have to choose: the song is wholly built with synths and drums as walls, and these walls are connected by Victoria Legrand, half of Beach House along with Alex Scally.
The song is contained in the fifth album, Depression Cherry, published in 2015.
Tender is the night, Legrand sings, but it’s a late night. She sings about a long night, one of those nights where you still haven’t grasped that your relationship is ending, or maybe you’re getting it now, while this song is playing.
Eyes are all that matter here: maybe you wish to find a smile in those eyes, among all those tears.
And what will make[…] this fragile world go ‘round?
It’s a song that perfectly fits in a dream-pop scenario, playing in another room while you’re in the bathroom wiping away your tears, to come out while Legrand’s voice fades away.
Everything will “fall back into pieces”, don’t you worry.
